Ashraf Shannon, Press TV, Gaza

Almost three years have passed since Israel waged an all out war against the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Although the onslaught has faded from the headlines, its victims continue to suffer physically and psychologically.

In a three-week invasion, which started on December 27, 2008, nearly 1400 Gazans were killed and thousands of others injured.

About 21 thousand homes were destroyed by Israeli tanks and fighter jets. Israel claimed it went to war to stop the rocket fire from Gaza.

International activists had this to say about the situation in Gaza…..

Experts say children in particular suffered greatly from anxiety and depression after the Gaza War, known as Operation Cast Lead.

Human rights groups have often accused Israel of violating every single international convention governing the rules of war and the treatment of civilians.

Almost three years after Israel waged a war on Gaza victims say they are still traumatized by what Israeli forces put them through during 22 days of war.

Martyred By Israeli Occupation Attacks

انّا للہ و انّا الیه راجعون

May Allah Subhana wa Ta’ ala grant the Shuhada Jannatul Firdaus, and ease it for their families, loved ones and anyone around them. Allahumma Ameen ya Rabbil Alameen. ‘ Inna Lillahi wa ‘ Inna ‘ Ilayhi Raji’un, Allahu Akbar

ஜ۩۞۩ஜ

* The list of shuhada does not display, the numerous victims of the zionist occupation which are undocumented by media. Nor it displays the victims of the “silent onslaught” due to restrictions of movement, ability to go to hospitals for treatment or life saving surgery, due to lack of medication because of the blockades and so on. For example: The Slow Motion Genocide by the Siege on Gaza only, killed 600 patients since Gaza got under Israeli Siege.

For an overview of All Israeli Massacres Palestinians go here

Neither does this list, display the avoidable mortality. A clear and statistical factual evidence, about the number of deaths due to indecent ruling by occupation forces. For even an occupier has obligations under International Laws, Geneva Convention and the Hague regulations, which it is neglecting. These circumstances, together with deliberate policies of the occupier to neglect and even deny every basic human right, severes avoidable mortality which is totally silenced by media or reporting organisations. While in the Holocaust, 1 on 6 Jewish people directly died of deliberate neglect, so if we believe the facts over 1 million due to avoidable mortality, neither should these same circumstances be ignores which are ongoing in Palestine. For this report displays a avoidable morality of at least 0,5 million Palestinians.

How many more dead corpses of Palestinians does the international community need to see in order to act? How many more cruelties and violations of Human Rights, Regulations and International Law will be needed to intervene so this ongoing warcrime is being stopped once and for all.

OCHA: Wheat stock in Gaza to run out in four days

[ 24/01/2011 – 10:15 AM ]

GAZA, (PIC)– The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a report on Sunday that UN-affiliated agencies in Gaza might suspend distribution of wheat in the Strip due to acute shortage in the product.

It said that the wheat stock in Gaza would run out in four and a half days.

OCHA blamed the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) for the shortage saying that it occurred after the IOA closed the Karni conveyor belt delivering wheat and grain in the period 12 – 18 January.

The UN body stressed the importance of allowing entry of an urgent wheat consignment into the Strip.

For its part, the popular committee against the siege urged the concerned Arab, Islamic, and international parties to pressure the IOA to allow entry of wheat shipments into the Strip.

It said in a press release on Sunday that all commercial crossings should be opened and all necessary material for the life of the people in Gaza should be allowed access.

The committee charged that closing the Gaza crossings was in violation of international laws and the Geneva Convention.

‘Gaza ready to confront Israeli attack’

PressTV – Sun Jan 16, 2011 8:13AM

File Photo
Palestinian factions say they are ready to face a possible Israeli aggression, following a recent flare up of violence along the so-called Israeli-Gaza buffer zone.

In separate statements, Palestinian resistance movements each reiterated their firm resolves to wage resistance against potential Israeli attacks.

The fresh stance comes days after Israeli military officials threatened to launch a new war on the besieged Gaza Strip.

On Saturday, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri slammed the war-mongering remarks as “empty words”, stressing that Palestinians were not afraid of such intimidations.

Meanwhile, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine has warned that armed Palestinian groups will confront Israel if its attacks on Gaza continue.

The remark was made by Abu Ahmed, an Al-Quds Brigades spokesman on Saturday.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine has also lent voice to the resistance, underlining that the group was prepared to defend the Gaza Strip against any possible Israeli aggression.

The warnings come only three days after members of Hamas, the Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, held a meeting to discuss the security situation in the Gaza Strip.

During the Wednesday meeting, the Palestinian factions vowed to do “their best” to foil any attempt by Israel “to carry out an aggression on their people.”

According to the Palestinians, Israel is attempting to provoke violence in the region by stepping up attacks along the so-called Israeli-Gaza buffer zone.

Over the past months, Israel has intensified its attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing a number of Palestinians and leaving many more injured.

Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip at the turn of 2009, killing more than 1,400 Palestinians in three weeks of unrelenting land, sea and airstrikes on the densely populated coastal sliver.

Israel air strikes injure 2 Palestinians [ CONTINUOUS UPDATES ]

PressTV – Mon Jan 10, 2011 6:29AM

Israeli warplanes have launched twin air strikes on the Gaza Strip, leaving two Palestinians injured, Press TV has learned.

The Israeli army said in a statement that the attack has been a response to a mortar attack by Palestinian fighters that lightly wounded two men on Sunday.

The attack came after Hamas called on its armed groups to abide by an unofficial ceasefire and stop firing rockets and mortars at Israel, Jerusalem Post reported Monday.

Ayman Taha, a Hamas official, said that the movement avoids providing Israel with an excuse to “wage a new war against the Gaza Strip.”

The official, however, said Hamas reserved the right to “respond to Israeli crimes, but only within the frame of national consensus.”

Israel launched a devastating war on the Gaza Strip in December 2008, leaving 1,400 Palestinians dead and thousands of others displaced.

The Israeli military, however, launch attacks on the Palestinian territories on a regular basis. There has been a surge of violence along the Gaza border during this month.

Israeli warplanes attack Gaza again

An Israeli warplane (file photo)
Israel warplanes have carried out three airstrike on the Gaza Strip, but there is no word yet on any possible casualties.

Two of the air raids targeted the east of Gaza City and the third airstrike hit an area east of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. The Israeli military has not commented on the attack so far.

Israel has been repeatedly targeting the Gaza Strip since its 22-day war on the enclave launched in late Dec. 2008, which killed over 1,400 Palestinians and inflicted over $1.6 billion in damage.

Israeli warplanes frequently target tunnels connecting Gaza to Egypt saying Palestinian resistance fighters use the tunnels for storing and smuggling weapons.

But the Palestinians dismiss the allegations, arguing they have resorted to the underground tunnels to bring basic needs to the impoverished Gazans because the territory has been sealed by an Israeli blockade for over three years.

Israel has continued to close all border crossings to the Gaza Strip for more than 3 years. The illegal Israeli-imposed blockade on the Gaza Strip, which has been steadily tightened since June 2007, has had a disastrous impact on the humanitarian and economic situation in the coastal enclave.

Some 1.5 million people are being denied their basic rights, including freedom of movement, and their rights to appropriate living conditions, work, health and education.
